HOUSTON RODEO!
Hi guys! It's Paula and before Spring Break ends I want it to write about the famous Texan RODEO which contains one of the largest live entertainment and livestock exhibition and some regular rodeo events. Alright, so before going over it...have you ever watched 'The Longest Ride', the film of the impossible love of a young couple, where the girl wanted to dedicate to art for the rest of her life at a city and the guy wanted to...... compete at Rodeos and simply live a Cowboy life! If so, you have known a little bit of this Texan tradition.
¡Hola chicos! Soy Paula y antes de que las vacaciones de primavera se terminen, quiero que conozcáis el famoso Rodeo Tejano que contiene uno de las mas grandes mercados e exhibiciones y algunos eventos del rodeo. Okey, antes de empezar a hablaros sobre el tema....¿alguna vez has visto 'El viaje más largo'?, la película sobre el amor imposible de una joven pareja donde la chica quería dedicarse al arte y el chico....¡competía en Rodeos y simplemente quería continuar su vida como cowboy! Si la has visto, tienes idea de lo que voy a hablar.
Luckily I had the chance to go to the Houston Rodeo where I could see different categories of competitions which participants were experts. Literallly, everybody was wearing the typical cowboy/girl outfit or indie style. Unlike Spain, animals are not killed or harmed. Particpants either try to not fall from the bull and last 8 secondos on it (a very daring event as not many protection is involved), capture the creature with a net or horse races in limited amount of times. I also attended to the performance of Miranda Lambert, a well-known country singer, I didn't like country very much but throughout the concert I changed my mind, it wasn't that bad all!

Besides the competitions at NRG Stadium, there is a huge building for the livestock exhibition (where I bough my real Cowboy hat), people sell mostly animals, boots ( I saw ones which price exceeded 13000$), hats, clothing, accesories but all of them are focused on a Texan theme.
The Rodeo provides a fair with rides and typical and irresistible food. Honestly I delighted in the event and I found out traditions that I've never experienced in my country.
Afortunadamente tuve la oportunidad de ir al Houston Rodeo donde pude ver diferentes competiciones donde particiban cowboys-firls. Literalmente, todo el mundo llevaba el estilo tejano-indie con las botas y el sombrero. A diferencia de España, los animales no son sacrificados o heridos. Los participantes intentan no caerse del toro y aguantar los 8 segundos encima de él, (un evento bastante peligroso ya que no osan de mucha protección), pueden capturar el animal con una cuerda, tambíén hay carreras de caballos donde el que consiga menos tiempo gana. Además tuve la ocasión de asistir al concierto de una cantante de country muy famosa: Miranda Lambert, y la verdad es que me gustó; el country no es tan malo como pensaba.
Aparte de las competiciones en el NRG Stadium, hay un edifiicio enorme para la venta y exhibición de animales y puestos de ropa, joyería, gorros , botas (unos parres superaban los 130000 $)...Vamos que todo era centrado a un estilo tejano y tribal. Afuera, el Rodeo ofrece como una feria con atraciones y puestos originales de comida como las oreos fritas. Sinceramente, disfruté mucho de este evento y descubrí tradiciones que nunca podré experimentar en mi país.
