INTRODUCING AMERICAN LIFE: MAINLY DIFFERENCES, part 1 by Paula Barrio Oton
Hey guys! It's Paula and today's post is about American lifestyle, I felt that I need to write this down to let you know how USA is different from your country. There would be many parts of the this topic because there's too much things drawn in with the main theme. So let's get started!
1-HIGH SCHOOL/EDUCATION:
North America's educational system is greatly different in comparison with Spain. The setting is exactly the same as the ones in the films which was very exciting for me because I have always wanted to stay in one. There are lockers, however most people don't use them, there's a clinic room, some snack bars... There are a well variety of subjects: different sports like softball, track, football, soccer, dance, hairdresser's, flower design, sign language, theatre, cheerleading etc...that of course includes its own room which is amazing! That's one of the reasons of why high schools are huge as well as the big quantity of students. There are levels in every subject unlike Spain where everybody has equal levels: Regular, the easiest one, Pre-Ap, (intermediate level between easy and hard) and later the highest and most difficult one:AP. Although generallly, they have a lower level in comparison with Spain because homework and daily work counts a lot and the majority of subjects in Spain equivalent to AP. Nonetheless, in some aspects, they are more advanced. schools are the social ambient for many teenagers in USA since they can be involved in sports teas or clubs that requires hours and hours of practice a week. One of the things that I hate is waking up early to pick the bus, 5:45 is the time that my alarm clok rang and this is completly true and I know, it sucks. Then there's one hour more in the schedule. There are 4 grades ( 3º ESO to 2º Bachiller in Spain), the order is (starting from the 1st year to the 4 year): Freshmen, Sophmore, Junior and Senior). I'm a Junior :) And last but not least, each high school has its own animal or character to represent them: In my case I have a bulldog.
